Dunes, Dingoes, and Driftwood

Stewart and Lloyds campground is one of my favourite out of world campsites in NSW. Located 2.5 hours from Sydney, this campsite combines bush camping with vast sand dunes and a beautiful coastline.

Camping directly in front of the sand dunes is the best way to enjoy this serene campsite.

Before writing this post, I was really tossing up if I should post this or not as it is honestly one of my go-to campsites and I would hate to see it booked out every weekend. However, I decided to not be a gatekeeper and share it on my blog! So hopefully more people can respectfully enjoy this beautiful landscape.

My Favourite Booking Spot

When booking the campsite you will have 12 spots to choose from. My favourite is the one circled in red, as it gives direct access to the sand dunes!

Dingoes, Dingoes, Dingoes!

One of the most interesting aspects of this campsite are the dingoes. I do need to say that although they are very cute and seem docile they are wild animals and do not act like domestic dogs. Please don’t get too close and definitely do not feed them or even try to pat one. They shouldn’t bother you if you leave them alone, and they are definitely best enjoyed when observed from a far!

Bonus 4WD Beach Nearby

This section is for anyone that owns a 4WD, as there are great 4WD accessible beaches right next to the campsite!

It is a little bit confusing, but this stretch of coastline is under two different jurisdictions. The lower half of the beach is council land and will require either a $65, 30-Day Pass or a $105, Annual Pass. These passes can be purchased at any one of these locations here.

The upper half of the beach is National Park land and is the area I recommend driving on. A National park day park can be purchased for $8 or you can buy an Annual pass for the single park for $22. Passes can be purchased here. Any national park pass can be used for access to these beaches and I am aiming to write another blog post detailing how the Australian National Park passes work, so stay tuned for that!

Thats about it! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below and keep wandering, and keep wondering!

  1. Thank you for not gatekeeping!!! I need to visit this campsite in person—it looks absolutely incredible! The photos are stunning—National Geographic level! And those dingoes sleeping? Cutest thing ever!
